  13. Tue 22-Sep-92: I have updated all my five easy-to-use statistics
  14. packages available from the Garbo archives, directory /pc/ts. The
  15. packages are
  16.   ts1st20.zip    Univariate statistical measures.
  17.   ts2st20.zip    Statistics: Multiple regression analysis.
  18.   ts3st17.zip    Statistics: Transformations of observations.
  19.   ts4st17.zip    Statistics: Correlation analysis.
  20.   ts5st17.zip    Least Absolute Deviation regression analysis.
  21. The input and output file names can be optionally given as
  22. parameters in the program calls, e.g.
  23.       STATREGR /ic:\stat\test.dat /or:\tmp
  24. This option has  been improved.  The "prefilled"  name (e.g.
  25. c:\stat\test.dat) will now automatically appear on the input line
  26. without the need of pressing the cursor up key. All you need to do
  27. is to press enter.
  28.    Also made some minor internal changes not worth recording.
  29.    Rewrote the document files using a 68 column wrap instead of the
  30. former 80 to make the text easier to read and handle. Added the list
  31. of files in the package to the documentation.

  38.   ts4st16.arc    Statistics: Correlation analysis.
  39.   ts5st12.arc    Least Absolute Deviation regression analysis.
  40. The improvements mostly concern the user interface and the printer
  41. routines.

  43. Mon 11-May-90: I have released a new version of the least absolute
  44. deviation (LAD) multiple regression analysis program, statladr.exe,
  45. in collaboration with Seppo Pynnonen (sjp@uwasa.fi), who holds a
  46. doctorate in statistics. We have added a (lad) coefficient of
  47. determination, which indicates the goodness of fit in the same way
  48. as R2 does in the familiar ordinary least squares (OLS) regression.
  49. The program now also gives the standard errors of the estimated
  50. regression coefficients and their respective t-test values. The
  51. estimate of the standard error of the residuals is also calculated.
  52. The updated version is available as /pc/ts/ts5st11.arc. LAD multiple
  53. regression analysis is part of the set of my statistical programs.

  60. This announcement has been delayed from the date of writing these
  61. news because the link between USA and Europe has been merrily down
  62. for some time now. This is probably due to replacing some satellite
  63. link with a maritime cable, or whatever.
